Guidelines
Participants must be 18+.All event communication will occur via an event Discord server that all participants are required to join and monitor regularly. Please do not discuss or share your event WIPs outside of the discord server. There will be a designated preview week and you will be allowed to have your wip featured (if you would like).Any submitted content must be original and unpublished. All check-ins for this event are mandatory. Participants must complete them within the deadline, or ask for an extension prior to the end of the check-in period. If you miss both of the first two check-ins without any contact, you will be considered a dropout and we will get a pinch hitter for your position.Teams must post their pieces on the same day during the posting period.
Writers
Writer Sign Up FormWord Count Minimum: 5,000 wordsWorks must meet the minimum word count by the end of the event. If the piece ends up being longer, you are required to post at least the minimum word count amount to AO3. The rest can be posted on your own time! All writers must have an AO3 account to participate, and must tag and rate the created piece appropriately. This includes tagging background relationships and any possibly triggering content.Writers must link their artist’s piece and credit their artist (and beta reader if one was assigned).Writers will have a check-in prior to the creation period to submit their fic summaries and additional information (rating, tags, etc.) for claims. Summaries will be provided to artists and betas anonymously to be selected.
artists
Artist Sign Up FormRequirement: One piece with flat color/greyscale, minimal backgroundAny style (traditional, digital, comic) may be used for the event. Pieces must be posted to socmed during the posting period.Artists will submit their top 5 summaries during claims, which will be used to pair the teams.Artists may select to work with more than one team. However, this does not guarantee you will be paired with more than one pitch. Please work with your writer to pick scenes you are both comfortable having illustrating. Even if you select an NSFW or dark/problematic summary, you can choose the level of explicit/darkness you wish to illustrate (as long as it stays true to the chosen scene and the writer's vision, and as long as that is ok with your writer). However, please understand you will likely be reading the fic, so please do not select a fic that has content you are uncomfortable with.
betas
Beta Sign Up FormBeta readers in this event will provide assistance and feedback to their matched writer(s). This assistance can be in brainstorming/plot development assistance, cheerleading, spelling/punctuation/grammar (SPaG), etc.Beta readers can choose more than 1 piece to beta-read. We simply ask that you take stock of your capabilities and time, as no matter how many pieces you choose to beta read for, you will be held to the same guidelines and check-ins.Beta readers will choose from summaries that are looking for a beta. Please select summaries that you feel comfortable reading for, by looking at their ratings and tags.
pinch hitters
Pinch Hitter Sign Up FormA pinch hitter is someone who steps in when a writer, artist, or beta drops from the event. Pinch hitters will be contacted in the discord server, and will receive summary information on a first-come-first-serve basis. When you sign up as a pinch hitter, there is no guarantee that you will be needed to step in. In addition, there is no penalty for refusing to work on a summary you are not interested in.Pinch hitters will be held to the same requirements as creators or beta readers. Extensions for pinch hitters will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
dropping out
We understand that emergencies and personal situations come up! All we ask is that you inform us rather than ghost the event and your team.If you cannot continue in your role or finish your ZoSanZo Bang contribution, please DM a mod immediately. Once you inform the mods, we will begin the process to recruit a pinch hitter for your team. The drop out deadline is: August 12th 2024. This is to ensure that there is enough time to find a pinch hitter and ensure your team has sufficient time to also complete their parts.

faq
What is the zosanzo bang?
Well, firstly a Bang is a fan event where a writer and artist collaborate to create a fic and accompanying art piece(s) focusing on a specific fandom and based on guidelines set by the event.Writers submit a summary of the fic they wish to write, anonymously. Artists will then look through all the available summaries and choose those that they are interested in creating art for. Then writers and artists will be paired together through a matching process. In the case of beta readers, they will also be able to look through and choose summaries (where the writer has requested for a beta) they want to beta for, and will be included in the matching process. For this event, all created pieces will be centered on the relationship between Sanji & Zoro. All dynamics are welcome, and the pieces created through the event may portray relationships between the two in any way (platonic or romantic).Final fics must be posted on AO3 with a link to their artist’s piece, crediting their artist (and beta if they had one). All event communication will occur via an event Discord server that all participants are required to join and monitor regularly.
Do I have to be 18+ to participate?
Yes, you must be 18+ at the time of sign-ups to participate. If at any point you are found to not be 18+, you will be booted from the server and no longer able to participate in the exchange.
What content is allowed?
All content is allowed, meaning this event is open to SFW, NSFW, and dark/problematic content. All we ask is that it is tagged and warned appropriately! Works are not required to be canon-compliant or in a canon setting. Canon divergences and AUs are welcome! In addition, as both romantic and platonic relationships are allowed as the focus of this event, please make sure to indicate the nature of the relationship correctly when tagging. Romantic relationships will use a slash. Platonic relationships will use an ampersand. For example:
“Sanji / Zoro” → romantic relationship
“Zoro & Sanji” → platonic relationship
How will matching work?
Mods will be matching teams based on all the information provided during claims. We will assess all the selected summaries (you will be able to provide your top 5 choices) and pair up creators based on availability and those preferences.
There's a participant that I am not comfortable working with. What can I do?
During sign-ups, you will be able to inform the mods if there is someone you do not feel comfortable creating for. This information will be kept confidential and the mods will not match you with that person.
I have more questions!
Please feel free to reach out to us through Twitter DMs or Retrospring! We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
